چکیده

This contribution presents a time-domain model of the skin depth effect in a lossy transmission line. The model was developed and implemented in VHDL-AMS for a twowire edge coupled line but it is general and can be used for other types of lossy transmission line and high-frequency applications with skin depth effect. The salient feature of the model is the use of signal variation rate instead of frequency in the signal-dependent resistance that models the skin depth losses. VHDL-AMS simulation experiments are presented to validate the model.

Behavioral Modeling and Simulation of Semiconductor Devices and Circuits Using VHDL-AMS

During the past few years, a lot of work has been done on behavioral models and simulation tools. But a need for modeling strategy still remains. The VHDL-AMS language supports the description of analog electronic circuits using Ordinary Differential Algebraic Equations (ODAEs), in addition to its support for describing discrete-event systems. For VHDL-AMS to be useful to the analog design ...

A VHDL-AMS Library of RF Blocks Models

This paper presents a behavioral model library of analogue and mixed circuits used in the radio-frequency domain. The models are described in VHDL-AMS and are carefully documented and validated, in order to be easily used by designers or model developers. These models allows to explore systems architecture easily and rapidly.

Accurate simulation of switched systems using PSpice and VHDL-AMS Accurate simulation of switched systems using PSpice and VHDL-AMS

The paper deals with behavioral modeling of idealized systems with discontinuities. The purpose of such models is to obtain the first-order effects to verify analytic calculations or to increase simulation speed. Traditional algorithms for the time-domain analysis implemented in Spice-class simulators are based on the assumption of smoothness and continuity. Abrupt changes of system parameters ...

Abstract for BMAS 2001

Designers face the challenge of specifying and implementing complicated mixed-technology systems. In order to better address mixed-signal designs, the VHDL-AMS and Verilog-AMS languages have been developed. These languages provide powerful capabilities to model and simulate behaviors in both the continuous and discrete time domains. Contemporaneously, the control systems community developed the...

VHDL-AMS Modeling of Continuous-Time Complex Bandpass Delta Sigma Modulator

Abstrac tContinuous-Time delta sigma modulators (CT ∆ΣM), by their nature, are mixed-signal systems. That fact creates a discontinuity in the traditional IC design flow which assumes that “discrete” and “continuous” time domain designs require separate design tools. In this work, we present a top level behavioral approach of modeling CT complex Bandpass (CBP) ∆ΣM using VHDL-AMS language. The CT...
